7 Audience Insights From Our Summer Travel Survey

This summer, we polled our audience of travel enthusiasts to learn more about their upcoming travel plans – from far-flung destinations to local immersion to the experiences they seek while on the road.

Our audience of gear-obsessed travelers embodies a deep love for exploration and adventure. They are likely to plan a road trip, explore local restaurants and shops, and once they return, they are highly likely to share their experiences with family and friends. Whether traveling for leisure or business, they’re passionate about the trips they take and carefully plan around their favorite activities and hobbies.

The Insights

  1. 98% of respondents plan to take a trip in the next year.

  2. 81% of respondents own a valid passport and are considering an international trip in the next year.

  3. A road trip is the #1 vacation our audience plans to take in the next 12 months.

  4. While on vacation, our readers are highly likely to seek out local restaurants, shops and outdoor recreation.

  5. 65% of respondents participate in travel loyalty programs. 2 in 3 are likely to use travel rewards to book a trip.

  6. 95% of respondents are likely to do research online before planning a trip, with 2 in 3 coming to Gear Patrol for travel gear recommendations. 

  7. 88% of respondents are likely to give travel recommendations to others.
